Sharing your story

Your story is an eyewitness account of how God rescues people from sin, death, and darkness through the blood of Jesus Christ. Taking the time to write out your story will prepare you for sharing it when the opportunity is presented by the Holy Spirit.

1) PRAYER

Begin this process by having a time of prayer with God. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the words to describe how Jesus Christ has changed your life.

2) PREPARE

Get a pen, paper, and a quiet space to do some writing.

  • LIFE BEFORE CHRIST.
Think back to your life before Jesus started transforming your life.  How did you think, feel, and behave before Jesus came into the picture? What was important to you and why?

  • EXPERIENCING CHRIST.
Think back to when you first heard about Jesus and were set free from sin. Paint a picture of that scene and how you felt. Remember that moment.

  • LIFE FOLLOWING CHRIST.
How has trusting God with your past, present, and future changed the way you live your life? What things are you still giving over to Him? How is your identity being replaced by your new identity in Jesus?

Remember, we're all in process. Don't feel the pressure to have it all together before you share your faith. Be honest with where you're at, God will use that for His fame and glory. And, quite possibly, to change someone else's life.

3) SHARE

Think about all of the people in your life that have yet begun to follow Jesus. Select three of them and begin to pray for them daily. Ask God to give you an opportunity to share with them when the time is right. As you go about each day, be aware of how the Holy Spirit is guiding and directing your conversations with others, look for opportunities to share about your faith.

...always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect...
