Do not Slander

  • James 4:11-12

Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?

DISCUSSION GUIDE

Complete the O.I.A. framework for this passage from James.

1) When have you been falsely accused or attacked by the words of another?

2) When have you been the one speaking such words to cause hurt?

3) How would using the three gold gates change the way you speak to or about others. Is it true? Is it needful? Is it nice?

Prayer:
God,
Help me to stop and evaluate the words that are coming out of my mouth. Examine my heart, check my motives, and prayerfully consider how I speak of others.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
