Restoration

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
SPIRITUAL PRACTICES
If you haven’t confessed “Jesus is Lord”, don’t wait! Surrender to God’s will for your life today.
You can do this with a simple prayer to God that can be your ‘line-in-the-sand’ that will mark the start of your walk with God.
PRAYER OF RESTORATION:
”God, I’m made in your image, but that image has been broken by bad habits, thoughts, and doing things my way instead of your way. You have convicted me of my disobedience. Forgive me.
Thank you for sending your Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem my broken image. Help me to humbly walk with you as you restore my through healing my past, present, and future. Day by day becoming more like Jesus. And it’s in His name that I pray this to you.” Amen.

Personal Reflection Questions:
Pastor Steve talked about Humpty Dumpty and made the point that we are powerless to fix ourselves. We need God to do this work in us. What areas of your life do you need to give to God for repair?
God is going to fully restore you one day, how does this impact the way you live today?
Reversing the curse can happen, in part, today. Read the prayer of restoration and make a new commitment (or a fresh commitment) to God.
Group Reflection Questions:
Talk about how our eternal hope in God can reframe the suffering we experience today.
Discuss the topics covered in ‘Imago Dei’, creation, fall, redemption, restoration… how has this series changed the way you see yourself, others, and creation.
Take some time to sit silently before God.
What action will you take this week because of what you heard from the Lord during the teaching of His Word?
