Contend For The Faith Of Others
-
Jude 20-23
But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
Be merciful to those who doubt; save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

This Sunday, Pastor Lonnye continued our series on the letter of Jude. This letter was written by Jude (the youngest brother of Jesus) to address when false teachers had infiltrated the church and were influencing others to follow a false gospel. This week we read about how we not only contend for our faith, but we contend for the faith of others too.
Contend for your faith by:
-Building yourselves up in the most holy faith.
-Praying in the Holy Spirit.
-Keeping yourselves in God’s love.
-Waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.Contend for the faith of others by:
-Being merciful to those who doubt.
-Saving others by snatching them from the fire.
-Showing mercy informed by holy fear. How are you contending?
Write down the ways in which you feel the Holy Spirit leading you, reflect and pray that God would show you how to follow the Holy Spirit's leading. How is the Holy Spirit leading you to contend for your personal faith?
Who is the Holy Spirit leading you to contend for?

DISCUSSION GUIDE
Questions:
1) What did the Holy Spirit highlight for you during this teaching? Why?
Journal your thoughts and/or share this with someone else.
2) Make a list of three people who the Holy Spirit brings to mind, pray for them and think of a few ways you can help them ‘contend for their faith’.
Prayer:
God, help me to contend for the faith through prayer, your Word, time with You, and keeping an eye on eternity. Use these things to compel me to contend for the faith of others by extending your grace, truth, and love to them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
