Salt and Light

  • Matthew 5:13-16

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

SPIRITUAL PRACTICES

Memorize Scripture:
Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God
with all your heart and with all your
soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' "

- Matthew 22:37-39

DISCUSSION GUIDE

Questions:
1) Prayer, Care, Share.
Choose one action to take with one neighbor in each of these three areas, share this plan with someone else. Commit to asking one another about how your plan is going.

2) Spend some time filling out your ‘block map’, or if it is full, spend some time praying for your neighbors. Ask God to open the way for more conversations and opportunities to serve your neighbors.
