The Greatest Commandment

  • Matthew 22:34-40

Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

DISCUSSION GUIDE

Questions:
1) What are some of the ways you’ve got to know your neighbors in the past?

Talk about these with a group and gather additional ways from others.

2) Think about each of your neighbors, how many of their first names do you know?

Commit to praying for those you know and for the opportunity to learn the names of those you don’t.

3) Think of a tangible way for you to anonymously bless one of your neighbors this next week. Do it.
